Hello everyone. Since January 13 stuff’s been going good with me and Matt. As I mentioned in my previous post we worked hard on getting our guest room cleaned out and painted. The painting is complete! Pictures are on Matt’s blog. We had a Super Bowl party at our house on Super Bowl Sunday with our Life Group from church. I think everyone had a good time. We were supposed to go to Woodbury this past weekend to see Ty, but he got a stomach virus and so we promptly decided to put our visit off until this weekend. Matt ended up not feeling too good this weekend either so it worked out. Matt leaves Monday to go to El Paso on an audit. He’ll be in a semi-managerial role on this trip so it should prove to be adventurous if not fun. We are in the process of planning our family vacation to Colorado this year and both of us are getting excited about it. I sure can’t wait. I am so excited! We ordered my new camera lens last week and I can hardly wait for it to come in so I can try it out. Right now all I have to put on my Nikon D80 camera is a 50mm lens, which is a wonderful lens, but it doesn’t zoom in or out. When you’re in a tight spot it is pert near impossible to get off a complete shot of an area with the 50mm. I just bought the Nikon 18-200mm lens with vibration reduction. With those two lenses I should be pretty set for a while. On a final note, I am very thankful that all the students on Union University’s campus are safe. You can definitely tell God’s hand was/is at work in those lives. Until next time…

According to my Granny and my sis, I am incredibly behind on my life updates. School is over (I made an A in my class), Christmas with the Vance family is over, Christmas with the Bray family is over, our Life Group Christmas party is over, and Matt and I finally finished unboxing everything in our guest room upstairs. In the middle of trying to prepare for Christmas and trying to write a final paper for my class, Matt and I visited my sister and Davie at their home in Jackson. One of the things Eryn and I used to do as little girls was visit the Memphis Zoo with our grandparents (my fondest memory is the grape snow cones we used to get at the end of the day). I hadn’t been there in years because my grandfather can’t take us anymore so we went while we were visiting Jackson. I have included pictures from that trip as well as some Christmas pictures and pictures from my State Farm bowling night. Hope you enjoy!

P.S. Stay tuned for pictures of our newly cleaned out and painted guest room and other pictures of our house!

Fall is my very favorite time of the year. I love the way the slightly cool air hits you in the face when you walk out your door in the mornings. I like to watch the trees change to hues of red, orange and yellow. The peacefulness that comes from the sound of animals storing food and settling in for a long winter, of leaves rusting to the ground, comforts me and simply reminds me of God’s gentle hand. October is a wonderful month for me and Matt. Both of our birthday’s are in October as well as our anniversary. We are leaving on vacation this Thursday as my school will be on fall break. It will be nice to spend time together doing whatever we want to do without the worries of everyday life crowding in. So far this fall, Matt and I have had the opportunity to accompany his brother-in-law and sister as they took our nephew, Ty, to the pumpkin patch for the first time. His little hands were adorable as they picked a tiny pumpkin from the patch. Perhaps my favorite memory of this fall so far is the one of Ty singing “Happy Birthday” to his Uncle Matt. It was such a sweet moment and such a sweet voice. There are so many priceless moments in life and I have learned to cherish everyone I get to be a part of. Happy Fall to All! May these gentle days bring you much joy.

Yes. I do realize how long it has been since I last wrote a post for my blog. Last night, my husband so kindly reminded me that I was behind on my blog posts. I had thought about writing, but I have been a busy woman and really haven’t had anything to write. Sad, I know.

Well, school started back this week. I will attend a literature class on Tuesdays and Thursdays after I get off work until the semester ends in December. I think it will definitely be an interesting adventure. English/Literature professors always have some of the most unique classes. Also this semester, I plan on taking the CLEP test in order to receive credit for the last two history classes on my pre-requisite list. Then–GOOD NEWS–I am done with my pre-requisites and can finally focus on my photography classes. Speaking of photography, my wonderful husband just bought me a camera lens to go with my Nikon D80 camera body that I have finally saved enough money for and plan to buy when I get back from my family reunion this weekend. I will give you a more in depth review of the camera and lens once I get it and start shooting with it on a regular basis. Speaking of the family reunion…yes I will be at a family reunion this weekend…enjoying the company of my grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins that I haven’t seen since my wedding last October (if you have had the experience of being a bride you know that “seeing” them was about all I did while mingling at the reception). I already have my point and shoot Nikon camera charged and ready so hopefully I will bring back some pictures for you to share. I will write another post when I return. Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone!

Matt and I went shopping this past weekend. While in the dressing room, I overheard the following conversation between a mom and her son.

Son walks in grumbling.

Mom: “I told you that you were going to have to try on clothes today”

Son: “You mean I have to take my pants off?”Â

A few minutes of silence.

Mom: “How do those feel?”

Son: “I don’t like the tag. It is sticking me.”

Mom: “The tag won’t be there when we get home. How do they feel?”

Son: “I just don’t like the way the tag thing looks.”

Mom: “I told you, it won’t be there if we take them home. We’ll take the tag off.”

Son: “I know we’ll take it off if we take them home, I just don’t like it now.”

I’m not sure who ended up winning…Mom or Son. I left after that…trying not to laugh. Matt said he used to be just like the boy. Big surprise. I guess boys start early when they make up their minds they don’t like to shop. My favorite part was, “You mean I have to take my pants off?” Like he could try clothes on without doing so? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I love kids. They add entertainment to life.

Hello all. I am still here…just in case you were wondering. Exhausted, but still here. This past Friday night Matt took me to Maggiano’s for a wonderful Italian dinner (my favorite), and then we came home and plopped on the couch to watch our latest Netflix rental The Sentinel–not too bad of a movie. On Saturday I woke up at 6:20 a.m. and got ready to head to Woodbury for the day in order to help my in-laws move into the house they just built. By about 4:00 p.m. I was worn out, but Mom’s birthday was coming up on Sunday so we went to their house (about 10 minutes down the road) to give her the birthday gift we had gotten her in Alaska. Mom and Dad asked us to go to the church’s fish fry with them and, since I didn’t plan on cooking, we went. We finally made it home around 9:00 p.m. (I think). On Sunday we got up and went to church. After church, I came home and did laundry because on Monday Matt left at 8:00 a.m. for an audit in Austin, TX. I worked Monday and then Mom and I went to see Hairspray at the movie theater (If you like musicals and movies that make you laugh you should go check it out). On Tuesday I went to Wal-Mart after work. Yesterday, my friend Sarah Beth came over to keep me company for a couple of hours. (Poor thing was so tired from working nights at Vanderbilt she fell asleep on my couch!) I didn’t get much sleep this weekend and I am not sleeping good with Matt being out of town all week thus the title of this post–EXHAUSTED! I’m ready to take a nap and I am definitely ready for Matt to be home…which he will be…tomorrow. On that note, “Tomorrow! Tomorrow! It’s only a DAY AAAAWAAAAAAAAAY.”

Oh yeah…I almost forgot! Matt got a promotion Friday! Yeah!!! He is now a Senior Computer Information Systems Auditor for HCA. I am so proud!Â

Okay…so I missed a week on posting a blog update. Sorry about that. My life has actually been quite busy since we returned from Alaska. Laundry has been and still is piled up…it is just one of those things that never disappears. Last weekend my grandparent’s and uncle came into town so Matt and I tried to see them as much as we could. We did take time out to go to the Moonlight Drive-In theater in Woodbury to see Ratatouille and Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Matt and I enjoyed both movies immensely.

Matt and I spent a very relaxing 4th of July. Matt took me to breakfast at Cracker Barrel…I had their strawberry pancake breakfast that wasn’t on my diet, but still tasted wonderful. After breakfast we headed to Lowe’s to buy a grill that we had been looking into. It was on sale for 20% off, so what better time to buy…right? After that we went to Target and then to Toys-R-Us to buy Ty, our nephew, a birthday present. He will turn 2 on Tuesday, July 17. (When I asked Ty what he wanted for his birthday his response was: “CAKE!” We did get him more than cake, but his answer was adorable. I love kids…especially that one.) Lastly on the 4th, we went over to a church member’s house for a Sunday School cookout and then watched the fireworks. It was a wonderful day.

Friday, my mom and dad came over to try out the new grill. Dad cooked his famous and most delicious hamburgers. Mom cooked campfire potatoes that were great. I didn’t do didley squat…I’m spoiled…what can I say? After dinner, we all bowled on the Nintendo Wii. I won which was nice. After bowling we switched to golf…I lost…not so nice, but oh well.

Yesterday, I worked with Angie Gambill from Gambill Photography on a wedding in Shelbyville. The wedding was beautiful. Hopefully she will post those pictures on her blog in the next few weeks. While I was off taking pictures, Matt took one of the cars and washed it, waxed it, checked the oil, etc. Then he came home and mowed right before the rain hit. Today we went to church. So, like I said…we’ve been pretty busy.

I will try to keep up a little bit better so my next post won’t be quite so lengthy. By the way, some of you may be wondering why I haven’t posted any pictures lately. The reason is because I haven’t taken any new pics lately and the reason I haven’t taken any new pics lately is because the spiffy camera I was using is currently broken (remember, it broke on my Alaska trip). Somehow, after using nicer cameras, using the little point and shoots just don’t do much for me. I will definitely take pictures of Ty’s birthday and will try to get those posted for you.

Have a great week!
